Sara Larson is a pretty average Witch until her coven starts killing people. She runs far and fast to Austin, where she thinks she'll be safe, but even a new life can't protect her from the past--and before she knows it, armed men storm her apartment and she is hauled in for interrogation by a strange young man in a long black coat...a young man who doesn't seem to have a reflection.

Established as an independent sister organization to the FBI, the Shadow Agency fights the kind of crime normal law enforcement can't demon-summoning sorcerers, dealers in illegal magical artifacts, even drug lords selling the kind of Ecstasy that could bring on the Apocalypse.

Sara finds herself thrown into the Agency's administrative department, but that's only the beginning for the Witch, whose career trajectory and sex life both spin wildly away from the mundane as soon as she sets foot in the Agency's base of operations.

In this collection of short stories that first appeared on her website in 2008, Dianne Sylvan introduces Austin's occult law enforcement Jason Adams, lead Agent, vampire, and violinist; his snarky twin sister Beck, who goes through more bullets than blood; Rowan, an Elf who was once a sacred prostitute, now scarred inside and out from years of slavery; Ness, the human leader of the Texas branch of the Agency; Frog, a brilliant researcher working to combine science and sorcery; Sage, a Witch and baker whose cupcakes are to die for; and of course Sara herself, who will turn all of their lives upside down as she learns how to use her psychic abilities and discovers the depth of her own strength.

I bought all through in this series because I love her Shadow World series, and I need something until the next one comes out. These are from before the other series, not as pulled together, but I still like the characters, and the flow is good. They feel like they are practice for the Shadow World series, but not as pulled together. I feel like she was not as sure in who the main characters are, they kind of jump around. Enjoyable, still a good read, just don't expect the level that the Shadow World is written at.

The Agency Volume I eBook Dianne Sylvan Reviews

I discovered Diane Sylvan a week ago and this is the 5th book by her that I finished. Her books are addicting.
I love the Shadow World series so I thought I'd check out the other works by Dianne Sylvan. This isn't as polished but just as brilliant. A bit slow in parts but overall a very good read.
I'm a fan of Dianne Sylvan's Queen of Shadows so, in an effort to stave off withdrawal, I snatched this up. I was not disappointed. The story moves well, and I really like Sara. Of course, there are other characters to love here as well. One hallmark of Ms. Sylvan's is her ability to write characters that you really want to get to know better. All in all, a fantastic read, an I can't wait for more.
Right off I liked this book. Sara sounds like an ordinary woman. Great sense of humor. SA7 & his sister SA5 are vampires working for the Shadow Agency. The agency that deals with all the ocults and creatures from myths. Someone has created a drug that does a lot more than give a a person a high.
I bought this because I love Sylvan. I was curious to see what her early work was like. When I discovered it was written as a group of stories I was a little disappointed but not for long. The Agency is a great edition to her work entertaining, engaging and exciting. I am so glad I bought it.
I really enjoy reading Dianne Sylvan's books. Her characters are intricate and have so many underlying layers. Though she is writing in the paranormal romance area, this layering makes her characters very real. I can see the similarities between the Agency books and her vampire novels, but there's definitely enough new here to make these books worth reading. I really liked the sweet intimacy between Sara and Rowan even as Jason and Rowan are starting to learn of each other's feelings, and the relationship between Jason and Rowan is very hot and emotionally complex. I encourage Sylvan to continue with these stories even though her full-length Shadow World books seem to be her main romance novel work.
I love the Shadowbound series. Was looking for a new book to read and discovered the agency. Since Dianne Sylvan is on my favorite authors list I knew I wouldn't regret acquiring all of the volumes at the same time.

LOVE the first volume. The story drew me in. It held my attention. There was just enough descriptive information without overwhelming the story and causing me to skip through the prose. I highly recommend this first volume. I'm off to read volume II.
