This is a thrilling adventure story set in feudal Japan. It recounts a tale of good versus evil with some amazing twists and unexpected turns. It adds interesting historical detail as the story moves along. I recommend it for young and old (tweens and above) who like fantasy adventure a la Tolkien.
Entertaining read. Had a lot of fun with these characters. Definitely has its fair share of violence but it works into the story and the tone of the writing well. Definitely recommend.
The basic story and subject matter was good, but the writing style was juvenile and it was too bloody for my taste. At first, I expected something for a young person because of the writing style, but the excessive blood and gore is not appropriate for that age. It is very adult in its content. I made it through the first third of the book, and then chose not to finish it.
